Katon Abnar Behbahani, MA, LPC

I am an Integrative Therapist: I combine techniques from various therapeutic approaches to create a personalized treatment plan that fits your unique needs. Rather than following a one-size-fits-all model, I draw from methods like cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, humanistic, and mindfulness-based therapies. An integrative model is flexible and client centered. I center treatment on you as a whole person with unique needs.

I provide Multicultural Relational Supervision with an Expressive Arts Focus: My supervision approach weaves together multicultural awareness, relational depth, and the creative power of the arts. This model supports cultural humility, emotional insight, and artistic exploration. I enjoy fostering supervision that is inclusive, relational, deeply transformative, and working with associates that are interested in working with individuals over the lifespan.

I am part of the BIPOC community: As an Iranian American therapist, I recognize the complexity of cultural identity and how it intersects with systems of race, power, and belonging. While Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) communities have historically been categorized as “White” on official forms, our lived experiences often tell a very different story. A story marked by marginalization, misrepresentation, and cultural invisibility.

I use the term BIPOC in its inclusive spirit: to honor the diverse communities who navigate systemic oppression, cultural erasure, and identity-based trauma. As an Iranian American, I align with this broader community of color not to claim a shared history, but to acknowledge a shared experience of navigating structures not built for us.

My practice is grounded in cultural humility, relational awareness, and solidarity with all communities who resist stereotyping, simplifying, and exclusion.

I am a wife and mom of three kids: As a wife and mother of three kids, I understand how we hold emotional, cultural, and intergenerational responsibilities, often quietly and without recognition. Motherhood has deepened my understanding of what it means to care for others while also making space for our own needs, identities, and healing. In many BIPOC communities, especially within immigrant and diasporic families, caregiving can come with complex expectations rooted in love, resilience, and sometimes unspoken pressure. I bring this awareness into my work with clients, especially those navigating the intersections of parenting, cultural identity, and personal growth.

Therapy with me is easy: Therapy with me is designed to feel like a natural, authentic conversation and not a clinical or intimidating experience. Whether this is your first time in therapy or you’re returning after some time away, my goal is to create a space where you feel safe to be yourself, without pressure or judgment. I also understand the unique challenges that come with navigating cultural identity, family dynamics, and multiple roles. I’m here to support you in exploring your story with compassion and respect. We will move at a place that is right for you and focus on your strengths and resilience.

I only take on clients I can actually get good results for: I am not the therapist for everyone. If we aren’t a great fit, I will refer you to someone who can best serve you.
